Lucas Firlie | Patent Agent
Luke Firlie is a registered patent agent with DiBerardino McGovern IP Group LLC (DMIP Group). Luke helps clients secure and protect their intellectual property rights in various technologies.
Luke graduated from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where he was a Maryland Law Scholars Award recipient. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he received the President’s Scholarship.
Luke began his career in patent law as a law clerk at Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler, where he supported partners and associates on matters involving intellectual property and administrative law. He later served as a student attorney in the Intellectual Property & Entrepreneurship Clinic at Maryland Carey Law, leading client consultations, conducting prior art searches, and drafting claims, specifications, and procedural filings. Most recently, Luke worked at Bass Patent Law, LLC, where he prepared patent applications, drafted Office Action responses, and developed patent figures in accordance with USPTO requirements.
Luke is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the State Bar of Maine.
When not at work, Luke enjoys cooking, playing piano, and staying active through basketball and volleyball. A lifelong Baltimore and University of Maryland fan, he also enjoys following local and collegiate sports.
